Condition: Nebraska: A Guide to the Cornhusker State, Compiled and Written by the Federal Writers' Project of the Works Progress Administration for the State of Nebraska. Part of the American Guide Series, illustrated throughout. HB FIRST EDITION, Viking Press 1939. This is the 'Nebraska volume' of the now-notable Depression-Era guide to the states. Binding is coarse blue cloth with gold lettering (fading on spine). Condition is that of a general wear, but entirely hard and firm for its seventy years. Some usual soiling to page ends, and some foxing to endpaper areas. Owner's name stamped inside both covers, stamp of seller on title page. A little handwriting in pencil on first 'Contents' page, but text otherwise clean and unmarked throughout. A hard and serviceable copy that will last for some time yet; no missing pages, not an ex-library. Sorry however, no map designed to fit into rear cover insert, and no DJ, 424pp.
